I tried the router for a long, long time and RV082 (be sure to download and install the latest firmware) is one of my favorites and very stable. It 'been running in various business sectors in most all my personal sites as well - no hiccups.

Very easy to configure and I like the fact that it includes a PPTP VPN server, making drop-dead simple to connect to the LAN using the VPN client already built into Windows (no need to install software). Also if QoSneed to limit bandwidth or promote certain protocols / customers.

I also recommend the RV042 (Hardware 1.1 with latest firmware) or open source m0n0wall gateway. That said, the RV082 is still stable and fast my router of choice.

I purchased this product when it was a good review. I would have preferred if it were a / Cisco Cisco products and a / Item Linksys, Cisco. I spent a little time to get it working and the customer is happy. I would recommend it to anyone. I have not used the software that came with the drive to create the VPN from laptop .... thats next.

The RV082 is the main router for a network of 7 PC, a network file server, a network printer / copier, and two wireless routers in the church.
- It 's very stable. Working months at a time without problems.
- Supports Windows VPN client. Very useful as I do remote support from home, from an airport at a distance, and sometimes from overseas.
- Supports fixed IP address assignment via DHCP. Very useful to provide remote support through Remote Desktop or VNC.
- Provides aLocal DNS database and research.
- Easy web administration.

With one WAN connection in use (cable modem), I do not need the second WAN port.

Our medical clinic has recently gone live with Electronic Medical Records System. We use a hosted solution, so a solid VPN connection to the host was extremely important. We started using a dual WAN router Syswan. It 'was terrible, the connection is dropped every other day, if we were lucky. We went to this router, the connection was solid after the first week of November. Our gallery has fallen only once, because the local data center went down in a storm. Within 10 min. uswere again with a backup data center. I was able to stop worrying about connection, a great advantage in my book. I just created another one of these at home and enjoyed a similar experience for the last 2 weeks.

We were doing a lot of problems with our setup VOIP to the office. Basically, our router packages before slaughter was causing severe latency problems on what should have been a T1 super clean.

So we bought this. The QoS routing has been fairly easy for a layman (me) for installation, but once he had stopped, we were able to route all traffic through VoIP t1, then separate all VoIP traffic only for our connection cable broadband.

This was a real life saver.
