This was an impulse buy for me. My logic at the time of purchase was that I could pre-configure it as a grab and run WAP and throw it up wherever and whenever you place a quick and dirty heat was necessary our four-story public. The fact that he had limited range was a plus more of a liability. After all, was designed for a limited area, like a hotel or a conference room.
Surprised me with the configuration and security options that correspond to those of general purposeWRT54G and secondly, at least my unit has a fantastic cover. When placed on the second floor I get about 200 'of coverage in each direction and wide bandwidth with up to 10 notebooks.
I am amazed by the number of speakers who appear for seminars, conferences and training sessions, assuming the availability of Internet access. The majority initially tries to connect with their mobile solutions but soon abandoned them in favor of WAP. In this regard, this router was a little tripGod sends.
I had about a year and was quite reliable.

Great product that burns up after a year or so. - Robert P. Booth - Salem, OR USA
This was a very nice product overall. I agree with most positive reviews so far. The unit overheats. I'm on my second. Now is the warming in winter in an unheated apartment in western Japan. It will work for about 5 minutes, then stops when the temperature inside the machine gets too high. This is not a defect in this unit. The last unit had a similar problem, but in summer hot and melted. This unit merged its wireless transceiver about 3 monthsago, but I could still use the ethernet ports for the past months. Now, even those appear to be failing. I can only say that this seems to be bad design for cooling. It 'really just a travel router. I was using 24x7 access to the Internet while abroad and this time with the unit last 2 years ago. Do not buy this equipment for continuous operation. You can not take continued use. It overheats or not.
UPDATE 15/03/2009 - Unit has burnt about two months ago.Replaced with a $ 29 decoder IO Data brand, which is not so good (but at least it does not turn to toast).
Excellent for the traveler - G. Kreis - GA USA
This router is awesome. I read reviews on many routers and this trip will live up to the campaign. After it is configured, you just "plug and work" (configuration is not too difficult, but just needs to be done once). I used different points, and it's great. Good signal through several walls (using right now at my in-laws, making their wireless cable for my stay).
